Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO has some pretty awesome predictions about how technology will shape our future. This is something that all of us can look forward to considering that he has his finger on the pulse of silicon valley. What he has shared about the technology being developed for the future might seem like science fiction to you, however, as we’ve seen before a lot of the stuff from sci-fi books, movies, and shows has actually come true.  He’s focused on the next 10 years

Upon the birth of his daughter he wrote a letter to her about the world he and his wife, Priscilla, hope she grows up in.

“It’s a world where our generation can advance human potential and promote equality — by curing disease, personalizing learning, harnessing clean energy, connecting people, building strong communities, reducing poverty, providing equal rights and spreading understanding across nations.”

On the whole, Zuckerberg believes that technology will enhance our gaming experiences, will be able assist the differently abled, and help us accomplish more on a day to day basis. Well really Mark,  I should hope so. Lets get on with the show!

Well the cool thing from his perspective as empowered as he is, he like some of us EMPOWEREDpreneurs get to help him make his vision a reality. t

More specifically, this is what he says the future will be like:

  1. Telepathic Social Network

He says that in the near future we’ll all be able to communicate and share our experiences with each other through technology which does not require us to log in to laptops or smartphones.

Basically, it would work like telepathy, where you could share what you think or saw with the people of your choice through a communications technology.

In fact, there’s work being done on such technology already where a person’s body language and expressions can be communicated, by translating it into a language, to another person using the same technology. Sure like to see the Techi feed from a group at a rave (hahaha)

  1. Internet for One And All

This something that Facebook has already begun work on through their non-profit initiative, internet.org.

To quote him, “In our effort to connect the whole world with Internet.org, we’ve been working on ways to beam internet to people from the sky.  Today, we’re sharing some details of the work Facebook’s Connectivity Lab is doing to build drones, satellites and lasers to deliver the internet to everyone.  Our goal with Internet.org is to make affordable access to basic internet services available to every person in the world.”

So, the day is not far off when internet will be beamed from the skies to people everywhere.

  1. Virtual Reality

Oculus VR, a virtual reality technology company, was acquired in in 2014 by Facebook for US$ 2 billion.  Zuckerberg predicts that virtual reality is going to be the next big thing in tech and so he made sure that his company would lead the way with their virtual reality product, which is still in development, called Oculus Rift.

This is something straight out of Total Recall.  A virtual-reality headset which allows you to have an immersive experience of places that you may not be able to travel to physically.

What’s more you can also capture and share experiences in 3-D of places that you do visit in person with whoever you want to, just like you share pictures of your vacations on Facebook today.

Next in line is augmented reality glasses, similar to smartphones, as he explains it, “If you think about phones, it’s still a little awkward to take it out of your pocket. In the future, if you want to look around you should be able to look around. If you want to select something, you should be able to look at it.”

  1. Empowered Artificial Intelligence

Today we have technology that does a bunch of stuff for us as per the instructions we provide.

Facebook is looking to develop this technology further where AI can decipher visual and audio information.  As an example of what it could be used for, he says that technology would be able to translate images and videos and describe it to a blind person.

  1. Sub-Immortal Humans

Zuckerberg is interested in seeing how technology can be developed to help us in successfully eradicating chronic diseases, increase life-spans, improve our physical and mental capabilities.  Basically, it would be a tool that taps on our limitless potential.

It may sound like science-fiction but much work is being done in this area to see how data analysis by computers can affect the fields of medicine and health.

Mark has come Light year strides from his like button, He’s imprinting on our planet, changing the way reality functions for hundreds of millions.

Your an aspiring EMPOWEREDpreneur.  I think you are going to do something great too!
