successful people, those that have not only achieved success but have managed to stay at the top for a long time, often have duplicatable methods.

Find a great success, instead of being jealous: befriend them, and find part of the behaviour that boosted them, Success is timing, skill, creativity and strategy, Learn their strategy hacks they learnt with great skill

Let’s take the famous example of Jerry Seinfeld. The man wrote 180 episodes non-stop; 9 seasons of Seinfeld. He dominated television with his comic genius for a decade from 1989 to 1998. In fact, the decision to end the series was his as NBC was literally begging him to do another season for an estimated $5 million per episode for 22 episodes. $110 million per year. EMPOWEREDpreneurs are motivated by something deeper. We have callings & they aren’t just money… It’s to do great things and to fee awesome.

Part of this is by being very creative, Energy seems to pool around you when you are very creative.

Jerry, has a perpetual flow of creativity

So, how is it that Seinfeld managed to have so much material to keep his series going for so long?

Seinfeld was once asked this very question; Brad Issac, a comedian, happened to get a chance to meet Seinfeld backstage and asked him to share tips for young comics.

This is what Seinfeld shared with him

He said the way to be a better comic was to create better jokes and the way to create better jokes was to write every day. But his advice was better than that. He had a gem of a leverage technique he used on himself and you can use it to motivate yourself—even when you don’t feel like it.

He revealed a unique calendar system he uses to pressure himself to write. Here’s how it works.

He told me to get a big wall calendar that has a whole year on one page and hang it on a prominent wall. The next step was to get a big red magic marker.

He said for each day that I do my task of writing, I get to put a big red X over that day. “After a few days you’ll have a chain. Just keep at it and the chain will grow longer every day. You’ll like seeing that chain, especially when you get a few weeks under your belt. Your only job next is to not break the chain.”

Don’t break the chain,” he said again for emphasis.

Buid Momentum

This is also based on an Empoweredpreneurs concept of “progressive infinity”  do things that keep growing. Temporary things aren’t as influential, purposeful nor profitable as Perpetual things.  Here you will find your legacy ~Sean K.

On close inspection of Seinfeld’s advice to Brad you will realize that he mentioned nothing about how to write good comedy.  No deep secrets on writing funny.  What he shared was more fundamental.

If you pay heed to what he has said you will begin to achieve what you set out to do by increasing your productivity. Think about it this way, the goal of a comedy writer is to write more jokes. Seinfeld did not set this goal for himself. Instead his goal was to write EVERY DAY. (production goal VS Final goal)This is what he did; he sat down to write daily. By the end of the year he had been writing for 365 days continuously. This not only gave him sufficient material for his show but also helped him create some of the most memorable jokes; jokes which are making money for him even post his retirement.

Now apply this to other domains, sports, music etc. An athlete may have the goal of competing in a certain tournament/championship. A musician might aim to master an instrument. What they need to do to actually achieve that goal is set another goal; the goal to practise every day. If they practise on a daily basis then they are bound to realize their ambitions ( so long as they have some mentorship/ guidance/ measurement of performance).

Basically, doing something every day sharpens your skills and increases your productivity.  This is the simple truth.

Increases your productivity-

Perfect practice develops perfect skills.  When YOU practice something day after day your output will increase and so will the

effectiveness, your analytical mind will find better ways and your creative expression will create greater results. You will find better ways of practicing, and practicing leads to performing Which is what happened with Seinfeld and hence his capacity to write brilliant comedy only increased with time. To make impact you need quantity. you have to produce more. Keep giving yourself untinterupted time, whether it be in the morning when everyone else is sleeping or later in the night, block out this period so you can achieve more. Increasing your productivity is boosting your focus, energy and removing distractions.

Here’s how you put this wisdom to practice

  1. Write down your goals (big and small)

  2. Put up a big calendar above your work desk where you can see it every morning

  3. Schedule your activity for every day

  4. Once you complete the activity update your calendar

  5. Use alarms or reminders if required

How this works is that even If you miss a day or two this system of marking the calendar will push you to get active gain. You will feel the pressure to act on your goals. Over a period of time this activity will become a habit. Once it becomes a habit you don’t have to struggle anymore to work at it.
